Please see below for answers to questions you might have before starting therapy. Please note that the responses to these questions are general advice only.

01

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No, you do not need a referral to book an appointment. However, referrals can be beneficial to manage your mental health with GP support and to access rebates. Please see our services page for more information on referral types and rebates.

02

Do I need a diagnosis of OCD to get an appointment?

No previous diagnosis is needed to book an initial appointment. If you believe you are struggling with OCD or another anxiety disorder then you can book an initial appointment. In the initial appointment we can assess your symptoms and determine if you meet diagnostic criteria.

Can I book a face to face or telehealth appointment?

Yes. When you book an appointment you can nominate whether you would like that appointment to take place face to face or via telehealth. Have a think about which would work better for you or which you would prefer.

If you start sessions face to face or via telehealth then you can easily change how the appointments are delivered by discussing it with your therapist. You are free to change the appointment type at any time!

04

Do you work with other issuess?

Yes, we work with OCD, Anxiety Disorders, Tics, and Trauma. We also understand that OCD often co-occurs with other disorders. Our therapists are flexible and have significant experience working with co-occuring conditions and disorders other than OCD.

Unfortunately we do not take referrals of clients under the age of 18. Clients under the age of 18 often require specialised support due to their different needs. If you would like support for a child under the age of 18 please get in touch with our colleagues at The Centre for Anxiety and OCD.
